Urine Test Strips

Combi® test strips are an easy-to-read urine dipstick test.  A urine dipstick test is the quickest way to test urine.  Urine test strips detect a wide range of disorders.  Within minutes important information on the health status of the patient is obtained.  This simplifies the decision about further diagnostic and therapeutic action.

Ovulation (LH) Tests

Ovulation test kits, for example U-Test® Ovulation Test, determine when there is a LH (luteinizing hormone) surge.  The LH surge indicates when a woman will ovulate and when she is likely to conceive.

• Luteinizing hormone (LH) is normally present in small amounts in urine. It plays an important role in regulating ovulation and ovarian functions during the menstrual cycle.  About 12 – 30 hours before the ovarian follicle releases a mature egg, the level of LH rises rapidly (LH surge).  Ovulation should occur within the next 24 – 36 hours.
• The “fertile window” spans a 6-day period. It is the 5 days before ovulation plus the day a woman ovulates.  The egg can only be fertilized in the 12 to 24 hours after it’s released.  However, sperm can live in the reproductive tract under ideal conditions up to 5 days.  So, if you have sex in the 3 days leading up to ovulation or on the day of ovulation itself, you may become pregnant.
• Four tests are provided in the single test kit. It is recommended to test on 3 consecutive days during mid-cycle to detect the LH surge.  The additional test can be used on day 4 if a surge is not detected.

SwimCount® Sperm Quality Test

SwimCount® Sperm Quality Test measures the number of progressive motile sperm cells (PMSCs).  It is the concentration per mL of the sperm cells that are able to swim and penetrate an egg, which is the only natural way to achieve pregnancy.

• The SCMSU technology mimics the separation of good moving sperm cells from bad sperm cells, like the way it is happening in the female reproductive tract. There are three chambers in the device.  Only Progressive Motile Sperm Cells (PMSCs) can swim from chamber no. 1 (Sample Chamber) into chamber no. 2 (Separation Chamber).  The PMSCs get stained with a dye in chamber no. 2, which produces the colour in chamber no. 3 (Detection and Result Window).  The more PMSCs in the semen sample, the darker the colour in the Detection and Result Window.  A PMSC is the only sperm cell that can fertilize an egg.  The darker the better, as shown on the reference colour.

Prostate Cancer Screening
